William Chalmers (bishop)
William Chalmers (1833 - 13 November 1901) was an Anglican bishop in Australia.[1]
Chalmers was born in London and educated at St Augustine's College, Canterbury and ordained in 1859.[2] He was an SPG missionary in Borneo before emigrating to Victoria, Australia. He held incumbencies at Inglewood, Malmsbury, Kyneton, Geelong and Brighton.[3] He was elected to be the Bishop of Goulburn on 9 June 1892 and consecrated and installed on 1 November.[4] He died in office in Sydney in 1901 and is buried within the precincts of St Saviour's Cathedral, Goulburn.
